General Conditions of Entry
Data Protection and Confidentiality
Sparta reserves the right to publish the entrant’s name, club affiliation, country of origin, firm, date of birth, and nationality on bib numbers and in the list of results. All personal data given by you will be handled by the organisers and will not be passed on or sold to a third party except in the above mentioned cases or in anonymised statistics. E-mails will be used solely to send relevant information regarding the race unless otherwise agreed upon.
Use of Media Material
Photos, footage, interviews, and other media material in which entrants appear can subsequently be used freely by the organisers for whatever purpose related to Sparta’s events, including for marketing purposes. All printed and digital photos on websites, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are subject to copyright ownership and may not under any circumstances be used for marketing or commercial purposes unless specifically agreed upon in advance. Official press photos, which are made available in the Media Package, can be used freely in reference to Sparta’s race events. For permission to use other photos, please contact the organisers.
Entrants will receive bib numbers by postal mail service (except from at the below mentioned race events). Undelivered bib numbers must be collected on race day at the info desk on the location of the race.
Bib numbers for the Copenhagen Marathon, the Copenhagen Half Marathon, the CPH Men’s Race, CPH Women’s Race and Fri for Mobberi Børnestafetten (kids relay) must be collected at the expo, which will be taking place in the days leading up to the event, in Sparta Hallen at Gunnar Nu Hansens Plads 11, DK-2100 Copenhagen. Entrants are required to present their registration card, which is sent out per email before the event.
Bib number pick-up on the day of the event is at the entrant’s own risk, and the organisers can not be held responsible for any traffic delays or other delays.
Special Conditions or Equipment
Blind and otherwise physically impaired persons are allowed entry provided they show due consideration to fellow runners. Special equipment, such as handchairs, wheelchairs or babyjoggers, are allowed only by previous agreement with the organisers.
At the Copenhagen Marathon and the Copenhagen Half Marathon there are time limits of respectively 6 hours and 3 hours (net time, i.e. from the time the entrant crosses the starting line).
Confirmation and Registration Control
Immediately after submitting your registration, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with a receipt. If you do not receive this e-mail or if it contains errors or omissions, please contact customer service or log into your personal entrant profile to update your participant data. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that the data entered in his/her entrant profile is up to date at any time.
Prices, Handling Charge, and Payment Facilities
Starting fees are exempted from VAT in accordance with the Danish legislation on amateur sports’ exemption from VAT. Sparta Athletics and Running will charge a handling fee of DKK 15 with VAT included. Payment methods include debit card, Visa debit, VISA, Euro Mastercard, VISA Electron, Diners Club, MobilePay Online, and Maestro (keep in mind that additional fees may apply).
Online Application Security
The payment system is secured against identity theft with a so-called TLS solution which is a system that encrypts all your bank card information. This means that neither we nor anyone else (with the exception of Nets and Bambora) have access to your bank card information. Furthermore, the TLS-system ensures that data between your browser and our server cannot change.
DIBS manages the payment module. You have the option to decline payment once you receive your payments statements and you are not liable if you are the victim of bank card fraud in an internet store if its payment system uses a TLS-certificate.
Product Liability, Right of Cancellation, and Reimbursement
Pursuant to the Danish law on consumer protection in e-business, the organisers are responsible for product liability. According to the law on e-business, the entrant (the buyer) has no right of cancellation since the agreement does not include recreational leisure time activities.
Transferring an entry to another person is possible against a fee of DKK 50 (DKK 100 for the Copenhagen Marathon). The unauthorised use of a start number may result in disqualification.
Liability, Errors and Omissions
The entrant should be sufficiently fit and healthy to finish the race unaided. At some races, it will be possible to enter specific medical or health conditions on the back of the bib number for the convenience of the medical aid staff.
By applying, the entrant automatically accepts that participation is at one’s own risk and that the organisers, their business partners, or sponsors cannot be held liable for injuries incurred or inflicted during the race unless the organisers are directly to blame.
Entrants under the age of 18 confirm that their parents or guardian have given their acceptance to the minor’s participation in the race.
Cancellation and Force Majeure
In the event of a cancellation due to force majeure, to an enforcement notice issued by the authorities or other circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the organisers, starting fees and other expenses will not be refunded.
Possible Errors and Omissions
The organisers shall not be held liable for potential errors or omissions in regards to prices or event specifications both online and in printed material. All published information is subject to possible changes.
